Meet the Organizers

Swara P. Maruvada is a senior at Barrington High School and has been part of the Barrington community since kindergarten. Growing up here has made her want to contribute to the community in a way that brings people together, which is what inspired her to bring TEDxBarrington High School Youth to life.

Swara hopes to pursue a career that balances creativity and artistic expression with leadership and strong organizational skills. She has played the violin for over 10 years and performs with the Barrington High School Chamber Orchestra and the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra. She also plays guitar independently and occasionally with her school, using it as a way to connect more deeply with the music she listens to every day. She loves hip-hop, rap, and R&B, enjoys going to concerts, and sees music as both a personal outlet and a way to understand culture and storytelling.

Outside of music, Swara is involved in Model United Nations, DECA, and HOSA, and has been a JV lacrosse goalie for the past 2 years. Through TEDxBarrington, she hopes to create a space where ideas, creativity, and community come together in a meaningful way.

Marji Nisbet is a senior at Barrington High School who is actively involved both in and out of the classroom. She plays soccer and participates in a variety of clubs and activities at school. Outside of academics, Marji enjoys being involved in her community and spending time with friends.

Through TEDx, she helps promote the upcoming event through social media and is excited to highlight the speakers and the passions behind their ideas.
